The West Australian Modern Greek Language Teachers’ Association Inc. (WAMGLTA) was founded by Greek government-appointed teacher, Mr Pavlos Iosifidis, and long-term educator, leader, and researcher of Modern Greek in WA, Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis to create equity for Modern Greek in the context of other languages that already had their own incorporated associations. On 24 August 2016, WAMGLTA was incorporated, holding its first official meeting on 16 November of that same year.
Through its membership, WAMGLTA unites all educational providers in WA that offer Modern Greek, supporting the individual and collective efforts of teachers, and other members of the Greek and wider community, in the learning and teaching of the Modern Greek language and culture.

(b) To provide a forum in which issues affecting Modern Greek language teachers and teaching are discussed;
(c) To undertake activities designed to extend the knowledge of members on all aspects of the Modern Greek language and teaching methodology;
(d) To organise appropriate activities for students of the Modern Greek language;
(e) To edit and publish or arrange for the editing and publication of materials to assist members and students of Modern Greek;
(f) To raise funds by subscription, donation and grants from government and private sources to aid the activities of The West Australian Modern Greek Language Teachers’ Association Inc. (WAMGLTA);
